Heavyweight backing for 'Fight for Peace' at Seni
Fighters Inc are proud to announce that Boxing's World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko is appearing at Seni08 as part of the 'Fight for Peace' launch.
'Fight for Peace' a social project aimed at young people between 11-21 years will be launched at Seni 08 on Saturday 26th April by world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and former world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan. Fight for Peace will open a new academy in North Greenwich offering boxing, gym, martial arts and personal development classes after school and college hours. Klitchko is supporting Fight for Peace in his capacity as a Laureus Ambassador and McGuigan is a patron of the charity.
Fight for Peace' founder Luke Dowdney had this to say about Wladimir's appearance-"I am delighted that Wladimir Klitchko and Barry McGuigan will help to launch Fight for Peace in the UK at SENI 08. Their involvement clearly demonstrates that elite champions can also be concerned with the plight of those less fortunate than themselves. Their involvement with the Fight for Peace launch is a real inspiration to the young people at the project who are greatly looking forward to meeting them."

UFC Heavyweight champion ‘Minotauro’ leads MMA Mayhem
The Seni Show at London’s Excel will witness a UFC invasion led by its Interim Heavyweight World Champion Antonio ‘Minotauro’ Rodrigo Nogueira, who recently defeated the giant Tim Sylvia to capture the crown at UFC 83. Nogueira is also a former Pride heavyweight champion and the only man to hold both the UFC and Pride titles. He will be meeting and greeting fans at Seni08 alongside such notable UFC names as Diego ‘nightmare’ Sanchez and Jason ‘The Punisher’ Lambert. The show will also act as a homecoming party for the UK’s own UFC Superstar Michael Bisping who successfully moved down to middleweight with a resounding stoppage win over Charles McCarthy at UFC 83. To add some beauty amongst the UFC beasts, pin-up octagon girl Arianny Lopez will also be at the signings.

Alongside the UFC signing sessions, UFC stars Royce Gracie and Dan Henderson will be taking sold-out seminars at the event. If you wanted to meet your heroes but couldn't get on their seminars don't despair as Royce, an MMA legend and still the only man to win four bouts in one night will also be taking a pad session in the Seni cage at 12.30 on the Sunday and will be a regular visitor to the Bladerunner Stand. Henderson, who recently fought for two UFC titles will also be available to meet fans on the Fight Superstore stand, promoting his own Clinch Gear clothing line.
Linda and Shannon keep the Lee Legacy alive
Fans of Bruce Lee, The Legendary 'Little Dragon' have pencilled in Seni08 as the most important weekend on their calendar, not least because his Widow Linda and Daughter Shannon will be at the event to promote the new Bruce Lee zone. Both women will be taking part in a Q&A session at 12 noon in the cinema room on both the Saturday and Sunday, answering questions on the life and films of Bruce Lee. This historic occassion will also be marked by hour long signing sessions across the weekend. On Saturday Shannon will be signing from 10-11am and Linda from 3-4pm, whilst on the Sunday Linda will be signing from 10-11am and Shannon from 3-4pm. If you are a fan of Bruce Lee this is a unique opportunity to meet the two remarkable women keeping his legacy alive.

Fighters Inc debut feature film, the action comedy Sucker Punch is officially available to buy on the 7 th July 2008 from all good retail outlets. Costello and Maguire predict MMA Mayhem for Pain and Glory
Pain and Glory’s latest MMA match-up promises to be an old-fashioned tear-up as Tsunami’s rising middleweight, unbeaten John Maguire (7-0) takes on his biggest challenge to date as he meets Andy Costello. ‘The Rock’ Costello has mixed it with the Big Boys at heavyweight including Tengiz, Buzz Berry, and James Thompson and is now looking to establish a big reputation at Middleweight but Maguire is a confident fighter, so something has to give at Pain and Glory if one of these fighters wants to take the next big step into the limelight. Legends of the Dragon exclusively released at Seni08
Bruce Lee Legends of The Dragon volume one by Steve Kerridge is to be launched at this year’s Seni. This is to coincide with the visit of the Bruce Lee Estate of which the book is officially endorsed. This, the first of three volumes to be released this year is the most awaited publication on Bruce Lee to hit the stores over the last ten years.
Fittest Fireman Frankson heats up Seni
Cassius Frankson is the current reigning UKOctathalon Champion ( www.octathalon.com) and a working Firefighter, a job that continues to put him through his physical and mental paces. The London Fire Brigade annually holds the Fittest Firefighter competition, which Cassius has won, subsequently going on to compete against other Firefighters across the globe. Cassius currently teaches Box Circuit and Combo at Danceworks in London’s West End as well as teaching classes for 3ness.com. He has competed in numerous high level and professional competitions since his early twenties, including TV appearances on the Gladiators and SAS Are You Tough Enough. Last newsletter we released a little teaser of what will be on display at Seni’s unique Bruce Lee Museum and were taken aback by the immediate response. Armed and Dangerous; Celebrity arm-wrestling
One of the Seni show’s most popular regular events is the arm-wrestling competition and this year it adds a new element with its three way celebrity challenge grudge match. Shane Lynch, from newly reformed superstar Boyzone, who are undertaking a major stadium tour in May, will be looking to see off film and television star Danny John Jules (Red Dwarf, Blade 2, Sucker Punch) and British hip-hop sensation Sway, in a battle to see who is the celebrity version of John Brzenk, the World Arm-Wrestling champion who will be a special guest at Seni08. Bruce Lee Memorabilia Revealed
The Bruce Lee Museum will be at the heart of Seni08 and will feature 35 unique items and 35 unique photos celebrating the life and times of the legendary ‘Little Dragon’ As Seni08 pays tribute to the 35 th anniversary of his death. World Record to take a Kicking?
Seni08 will host a World Record attempt at the Excel on Saturday 26 th when Robin Simpson, who already holds five endurance World Records, attempts to beat the record of 5750 Roundhouse kicks in 1 hour, in aid of Cancer Research. Robin has been training hard but will be relying on your support as he attempts the record in the tournament zone. Seni08 is pleased to host the attempt and wishes Robin well as he takes on this gutsy endurance challenge for another place in the record books.

The Seni Fighting Spirit Film Festival is promoting the best of British Independent action movies at Seni08, including the fast-paced fight-fest Underground, which screens on the morning of Sunday 27th and features British ‘Bourne Ultimatum’ star Joey Ansah alongside stalwarts Zara Pythian and Nathan Lewis in a tale of illegal Underground fights that take place for the entertainment of rich businessmen. From Wushu to Freestyle Something for everyone in the tournament Zone
The London Wushu Open at Seni is seen as one of the driving forces in developing Chinese martial arts in the UK and this year the Wushu Open aims to provide more categories, with separated categories for juniors and in some busy categories, male and female divisions may be split. If the Seni experience is proving to be so eventful that you find you need a few minutes to catch your breath, why not visit Maurice Horan’s team of Tai-so Shiatsu specialists. Boxing initiative Fight for Peace officially launches at Seni08 and its patron Barry McGuigan will be hosting a press conference at 10.30 am on the Saturday (26 th) in the Boulevard bar to promote the launch. That's after he's opened the doors to Seni08 to celebrate our 10th anniversary in style. The Clones Cyclone had this to say about Fight for Peace- "I am delighted to be part of this life-changing initiative and launch. Boxing is a wonderful way of teaching these young teenagers discipline, self-respect and respect for others while channelling their natural aggression in safe environment. Boxing Legend Barry McGuigan to launch Fight for Peace at Seni
Known as ‘The Clones Cyclone’, McGuigan united Ireland in support of him in the 1980’s with his humble nature outside of the ring and all-action style within it. His career peaked with a memorable World title win against Eusabio Pedroza, who at the time was considered virtually unbeatable. It is apt therefore that a man who fought for peace offically helps launch ‘Fight for Peace’ a new socially aware boxing initiative in London. Come to Seni and meet a man who can truly be considered a boxing legend.
Mark Shuey; The Canemaster comes to Seni
Grandmaster Shuey holds black belts in Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Tang Soo Do but is World famous for his self-defence use of the cane. GM Shuey has become well known on the major tournament circuits as the “cane man”, where he has been able to accumulate 18 world and national titles in the Masters Weapons divisions using the cane, while at the same time showing how devastating and practical this simple yet legal self-defence tool can be. His efficient system of instruction has taken such a strong foothold in the martial arts community that he has formed the Cane Masters International Association in order to facilitate the training of students of the cane and now you can see this system in action for yourself at Seni.
Linda Lee to attend Seni!
The widow of Bruce Lee, Linda met her future husband when he gave a kung fu demonstration at the High School she was attending. She became one of his Kung Fu students and they married on August 17 th 1964. They had two children together, Brandon and Shannon and Linda has continued to spread the message about and promote Bruce Lee's martial art Jeet Kune Do, alongside daughter Shannon. Now Seni gives you the opportunity to talk to the inspirational women who shared all of Bruce Lee’s major triumphs.
Anime first for Film Festival
The Seni Fighting Spirit Film Festival is now firmly established as the only festival of its type in the country, as it focuses solely on the martial arts genre and this year sees another first as we screen our very first Anime title to reflect the on-going popularity of the genre. Naruto is one of the most popular and successful manga and anime properties and depicts the adventures of a young boy named Uzumaki Naruto who trains to become a ninja. Seni is screening the acclaimed full length feature that has screened theatrically in the United States and Japan.
Seni goes ‘Over The Top!’
Everyone remembers the high-octane Sylvester Stallone movie ‘Over the Top’ about an arm-wrestler looking to win the world championships, well Stallone’s hit film was inspired by arm-wrestling legend John Brzenk, who won his first world title at the age of 18 and has a16’ right forearm! Arm-wrestling is a staple of the Seni show and this year you can meet one of the all-time greats as we go ‘Over the Top’ to thrill you in our tenth anniversary year.

Not only are Linda and Shannon Lee attending but the following JKD Instructors will also be at Seni08 to present an opportunity not to be missed- Yori Nakamura: the Middle weight champion of the world in Shoot Wrestling who now lives in Los Angeles and teaches at the Inosanto Academy of Martial Arts. Tim Tackett: saw Bruce Lee demonstrate Jeet Kune Do in 1967 at Ed Parker’s tournament and joined Dan Inosanto’s backyard Jeet Kune Do school. In 1973 he was given a senior instructor's rank. Richard Bustillo: is one of Bruce Lee’s original students of Jeet Kune Do and known as ‘The Iron Dragon’ in the JKD World.

The Seni film festival has got a real British feel to it this year, with the first public screenings of three British martial arts movies, ’10 Dead Men’, ‘Underground’ and the highly anticipated action comedy ‘Sucker Punch’, prior to its imminent British launch. Pat O’Malley will be conducting workshops across the Seni weekend to launch the new Rapid Response System-a street effect edged weapons defence system that can be taught to anyone in a short space of time. The Rapid Response System although based on the Filipino martial arts, also works with your natural responses giving you a better chance to survive an edged weapons attack. New UK MMA League at Seni.
The key to long-term success is the development of a strong amateur backbone that gives fighters a solid grounding before they move to the professional ranks. This was something veteran MMA fighter Andy Walker was conscious of when he decided to start the MMA League and showcase it at Seni08. With no head shots it 's safe and more appealing to all standards of competitors and each competitor will have two bouts on the day-each bout has a duration of five minutes and each win will give the fighter three valuable points, a draw will give both fighters 1 point each. Each event will be posted on the league web site and will be updated for each fighter. After the fourth event the fighter who has the most points will win their weight division.

Olympic Champion and Thai Legend Confirmed for Seni
A strong Muay-thai and traditional Western Boxer, Somluck Khamsing became a national hero in 1996 when he became Thailand’s first ever Olympic Gold Medallist, winning the Featherweight boxing category. He is a Muay Thai champion in his own right and famous for his Kings Cup Birthday appearance in 2000, when he took apart top French fighter Kamael Djamel, widely regarded as the top European fighter at his weight at the time. Recently Somluck has had a starring role in ‘Born to Fight’ and taken top muay thai fighter Sanchai Sor Kingstar under his wing. With two pop albums and a game show under his belt, Somluck Khamsing is a true Thai legend.

The Seni show packs so much into one weekend that taking it all in can sometimes seem nigh on impossible, there is just so much to see and do. Well, this year we are giving you extra time to see more, do more and experience more as Seni extends its opening hours in 2008. This year doors will open at 9.00am on the Saturday and not close until 7.00pm, whilst on Sunday the doors will not close until 6.00pm, giving you every chance to fully participate in the Seni experience.

The Royce Gracie Impact Range launched at Seni.
Seni has always been first for new product launches and Seni08 will see immortal launch their fantastic new bag gloves- ‘The Royce Gracie Impact Range’ which feature energy absorbing vasco foam, which was developed for NASA. The unique Bruce Lee Museum will be the centrepiece of a brand new zone dedicated to ‘The Little Dragon’. Before the EFMA in Paris, Seni08 brings the magic of Disney to the UK with the launch of the magical EFMA Disneyland Resort Stage and the junior martial artist in mind as it features a non-stop feast of showcase tournaments and inter-active challenges including Karate, Taekwondo and BJJ. Ringmasters, the UK’s leading amateur Muay Thai tournament is back in the ring at Seni08 but this year the good news is that there are even more categories-62kg, 67kg, 72kg, 77kg, 82kg, 87kg and 97kg. Fighters Inc are pleased to announce that ‘Sucker Punch’ their first movie as co-producers is being screened at the prestigious AFM in Santa Monica, America on Sunday November 4th. The film has been picked up for Worldwide Sales and Distribution by 111 Pictures. With martial arts icon Diana Lee Inosanto l having expressed an interest in attending the screening, Director of Sales Tony Lytle is confident ‘Sucker Punch’ will pack a hefty punch with buyers. Tournament Zone gets the point.
With 2008 an Olympic year, Seni08 can announce yet another coup in the shape of a fencing tournament headed up by Olympic fencer Linda Strachan, Commonwealth Games medal winner, Olympian and seven times British fencing champion. Strachan competed in individual and team events for the Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992 games and famously doubled Madonna in her fencing sequences for the Bond Movie ‘Die Another Day.’ This ground-breaking tournament will be in association with the Olympic Borough of Newham as it (and the Country) prepares to host the 2012 Olympics.
Bustillo boost for Seni
Following on from our announcement that Steve Morris would be taking a seminar session at Seni08 we are pleased to announce that JKD Legend Richard Bustillo has also signed up. Seni08 is to be the Martial Arts event for the China Now Festival, which launches in February 2008. After it’s hugely successful move to London the Seni Expo will be back at the ExCeL even bigger and better for its 10th year anniversary in 2008. Alongside its phenomenal range of exhibitors, demonstrations, displays and fast and furious action across six spectacularly themed zones, Seni08 will officially tie in with the Chinese Government through ‘China Now’ to celebrate the Beijing Olympics and deliver even more inter-active entertainment with a distinctly Oriental flavour.
